White Christmas

Holy cow, this week was busy, but before I get started... BIRTHDAY SHOUTOUT TO ETHAN MITCHELL RAWWWW Thanks for being an awesome brother to look up to, but before I finish... BIRTHDAY SHOUTOUT TO MCKINLEY TOO RAWWWWW Ok, on to the week... Monday Today we got permission from the APs to visit the museum in the Lima Central mission. Our only reason, honestly, was so that we could go eat at Chili's, but once we arrived, we thought that we might as well go in. It was interesting, but the most exciting part was running into other Americans. It honestly felt so weird talking to strangers in English without having to think of every sentence before I spoke. Then we went to Chili's, and it was bussin. When we got back, we barely had enough time to prepare for a gift exchange the day after before we got back to proselyting again. Tuesday We had a big ol' meeting with the mission before having a 2-hour district council, but the last hour was meant for a little party. All we did was hav...

Festivities

Monday Very basic P-day. Back to the usual soccer and El Olivar. The ZLs told us they were going to pull up to play with us, but they never did, so there ended up not being a lot of people there, which was kind of a bummer. We ended up having lunch with them, which usually is the highlight anyway. After naps and calling family, we had a family home evening with one of the families in our ward, and they invited two friends who aren't members. It went super well! Tuesday Right after district counsel, Elder Estela and I had to pack up and get ready for exchanges with the ZLs. I got paired with Elder Liendo, who's a native. He's a phenomenal guy but definitely very trunky because this is his last transfer. It was just a day of contacts, but as we were walking, we saw huge fumes of smoke rising in the air. We were already on our way in that direction to contact someone when suddenly we saw this house completely in flames! There were already firemen trying to put it out and a hug...

Missionaries < Angels

Monday We're back to regular soccer-filled Pdays, but this time it was actually way fun. I think I'm improving a little. I'm still awful, but there's improvement! Then we ate at El Olivar, and it was bussin. After that, it was regular naps and calls home. When we got back to work, this family of members gave us a list of this giant part-member family that lives close to us that we've been trying to visit, so that was awesome. Tuesday Today I officially hit 6 months and started my mission as a sister missionary, which is kinda wild to think about. I don't remember much from today other than grabbing mega conos after district council, which was awesome. We also had a lesson with Leanor and John, which went smoothly. Leanor is awesome, and I'm excited for her as she gets ready to be baptized. Other than that, it's just wild that I already made it 1/4 of the way through the mission. Wednesday Exchanges with Elder Loose! It would be my first time leading my a...

The Work Continues

Monday Finally did something other than soccer for Pday today. We got permission from the APs to go to the zoo, which is in the Lima Central mission I think. We went with the other Elders and it was way fun. The trip included seeing other missionaries, llamas spitting at us, finding animals that I literally thought were extinct or didn't know existed, and overall it was a party. Afterwards, we went to a nearby Chili's, which is the closest to home I think I'm ever gonna get. Eating a really good hamburger while Guns and Roses was playing in the background got me a wee bit emotional just thinking about America. Wednesday Kind of an interesting day. I'm not sure why, but so many of our lessons fell through, so a lot of the day was just wandering and replanning. But for about every lesson that fell through, we found a new person. One of the new people we found is living with the patriarch, is reading the Book of Mormon, and has already gone to church twice but isn't ev...

Elder Estela Clutching Up

Monday We got transfer news as we were playing soccer, and it looks like I'm staying another go in Deporte. This will be my 4th transfer, meaning that by the end of it I'll have spent 1/4 of my mission in this area. Honestly, I'm still more excited about it than anything; we have a lot of cool people with potential. P-day was normal, just full of soccer, ice cream, naps, and family. Tuesday Since Elder Baldeon had a training meeting because he was getting bumped to ZL, I got deported to another area for the day with Elder Judd from Taylorsville and Elder Sanchez from Bolivia. Trio life was a party, and it honestly ended up being a fun day. Something I realized is that with my Spanish, the only thing I lack is confidence that what I already know is sufficient. Elder Judd came in a transfer after me, but we still had an awesome day with finding people and having lessons regardless. Elder Sanchez didn't speak much, which was kind of funny because he was the most experience...
