Missionaries < Angels

Monday

We're back to regular soccer-filled Pdays, but this time it was actually way fun. I think I'm improving a little. I'm still awful, but there's improvement! Then we ate at El Olivar, and it was bussin. After that, it was regular naps and calls home. When we got back to work, this family of members gave us a list of this giant part-member family that lives close to us that we've been trying to visit, so that was awesome.

Tuesday

Today I officially hit 6 months and started my mission as a sister missionary, which is kinda wild to think about. I don't remember much from today other than grabbing mega conos after district council, which was awesome. We also had a lesson with Leanor and John, which went smoothly. Leanor is awesome, and I'm excited for her as she gets ready to be baptized. Other than that, it's just wild that I already made it 1/4 of the way through the mission.

Wednesday

Exchanges with Elder Loose! It would be my first time leading my area, but where my Spanish is at a little bit higher level, so it was honestly a pretty big test. It was even more scary because we were meeting with lots of people on date, but the day ended up going really smoothly. A few lessons fell through, but we found some good referrals and even put a family on date! We met with the Miranda family that night, but only Felix was there. Honestly, that was pretty rough. I'm still not the best at explaining tithing, and Felix explained to us that they wanted to move their baptismal date to January because of how crazy December is for them. That honestly makes me pretty nervous if they're going to follow through with it or not, so please pray for the Miranda family.

Friday

Before eating lunch at Hermana Ruth's, we went to the store to buy talkis, and there I ran into this crazy lady who tried to talk to me in English. She was asking me basic questions, and then when I told her I was 19, she wanted to show me pictures of her daughter. No ma'am! My heart is for God and God only (and also my mom). So we walked away before she showed us anything. Also, today somehow we made it into this recent convert's house named Renzo, who's been avoiding the missionaries since I got here. The lesson went really well, and we'll try to reactivate his family. The rest of the day was pretty normal. At night, there was this group of kids completely freaking out because I'm a gringo. That's honestly like an everyday thing, but these kids were extra crazy for some reason, so they followed us around for a bit, and I was just messing with them.

Saturday

Wild morning. Elder Estela's dad lives in Spain and isn't a member but has been meeting with the missionaries, and so today we had a Zoom call with him and the other Elders for a lesson. One of the other Elders, named Elder Bohn, happened to be in the MTC at the same time as me, so the whole thing was wild. But the craziest part is that we put him on date! So Elder Estela's dad will be baptized this January! Also, today we had a Stake Christmas party, and this lady in our ward asked us 4 Elders to dress up as angels for a mini nativity thing. Alright. We got to the chapel, and we were dripped out in our angel costumes, and the whole thing was honestly so fun. It was also nice because we then set up a lot of appointments with members that are hard to reach out to.

Sunday

Normal day. Sadly, Leanor was the only person that came to church today, but at least she's still progressing a ton. After church, we went to Hermana Ruth's for lunch and to help move some furniture. Lunch was ceviche, but it was super spicy, and my comp and 14-year-old Edgardo were dying because of it. I was honestly so happy to finally eat something spicy other than talkis after 5 months. But they wanted me to suffer too, so I ate a hot Aji pepper and legit almost died. It was pretty funny. Then the lady that asked us to be angels asked the 4 of us Elders if we could meet with her and her husband. We thought it was for dinner, but it was just so that we could share a message, so it was honestly pretty pointless for the 4 of us to be there. After was just a normal day.

Thanks for tuning in! I hope all of y’all have a great week. Say your prayers and read your scriptures! Until next time, peace out!
