Too Busy To Go Dummy

Image
Good morning, everyone! This week was super good, and I liked it a lot because every day felt like we did something different. So, I'll just get right into things. Monday We were going to meet up in the church as a district and play spikeball, but when we showed up, they forgot to bring the net. We ended up just talking, and then we went to eat lunch. While we were there, we played Cover Your Assets. Our district is honestly super fun, so I love hanging out with them. After lunch, it was just the usual naps and calls back home before we had to start proselyting again. But this week, we told ourselves, "vamos a ir dummy"—pretty much a funny way of saying we're going to work super hard. That night, we found some really cool people and had awesome lessons. Tuesday (Birthday shoutout to Elizabeth Jane Butler Mitchell) This morning, we had district council, which I now look forward to every week! Mostly because we always grab ice cream after, but either way, it gets me in ...

Get Up And Show Them Why You're Better!

Monday Elder Wilkens and I were planning to go on a solo adventure to climb one of the dirt mountains around here. Well, Wilkens told the Hermanas what we were doing, and they invited themselves to come with us, which meant we had to grab the other Elders in our district too. Somehow, word got to the Zone Leaders, and they invited themselves as well. That’s where we drew the line, so we canceled the whole thing and went to a viewpoint in the Hermanas' area instead. I then got my first haircut in Peru, and now I actually look like a missionary, so that’s cool. We met back up with the district to grab lunch before heading back and spending the rest of the day calling family. I started getting a stomach ache right before P-day ended, and it only got worse and worse. We got off our weekly meeting, which we have every Monday, and I legit couldn’t move, it hurt so bad. I’m pretty sure I got a little food poisoning from lunch. Thankfully, for that last hour of proselyting, we didn’t have ...

AND EVERYBODY KNOWS....

Aaaand we're back! Hope y’all have had a good week! Here's what things have looked like in another week in Peru... Monday For our first P-day with the new district, we all got together and played soccer with each other and some of our other friends. It was a lot of fun, but oh my gosh, I suck at soccer. I can confidently hold my own in any sport besides soccer—I'm the worst at it. It was still a lot of fun, and the new people in our district are awesome, so it's going to be a lot of fun with them. After playing for a bit, we went to lunch together, and then it was just a regular P-day filled with emails and calling home. Tuesday We had "Zone Conference" in the morning, and the reason I put it in quotes is because it was nothing like last time. It was online, only with our zone, the President wasn’t even there, and it was about 5 hours shorter (which I wasn't complaining about). There was probably something important that I got out of it, but I don't re...

President Nelson, I Found The Lost Sheep You Were Looking For!

Monday In the morning, we got transfer news and... nothing changes! I'm actually so happy about it because I love Elder Wilkens and this area. An elder in our district had his last P-Day, so we all went to KFC to celebrate. Unfortunately, we had to leave early because Elder Wilkens had a doctor's appointment to get a few things checked out. Nothing serious—they told him he had nothing to worry about, which is good. What made it even better was McDonald's afterward! I also bought a new Rubik's Cube from street vendors, which I was excited for. Other than that, it was a pretty basic P-Day. Tuesday We had district council in the morning, and I was fighting to stay awake, but it was good because afterward, we went for ice cream with the Elders. It was just another basic day. We met with a Catholic man who told us he had been in a coma for 40 days and saw his uncle in the afterlife. He was confused when he saw him because, before he went into the coma, his uncle was alive, b...

Surrounded By Crazy People (And Llamas)

Monday We had to go to the hospital because Elder Wilkens had to get some things checked out. Nothing serious, but he has some medical problems that they're trying to be careful about. Everything went smoothly, and we even got McDonald's after, which might be a once-in-a-lifetime experience because it's technically out of our mission with the hospital. It took me back to college, where I ate so many Big Macs it was probably getting close to breaking the Word of Wisdom. After the hospital visit, it was just another basic P-Day filled with grocery shopping, emailing, calls, and a nap. Wednesday Just another typical day of finding, contacting, and teaching. We brought a member out with us to help teach for an hour or two, and he's a pretty weird but lovable guy. His name is Giuliano, and he doesn't know any English besides every lyric to every popular song that's ever hit the radio; it's actually kind of insane. He also does a spot-on Mickey Mouse and Goofy imp...
