Monday
For our Pday we met up as a district to do a "Carnival," which basically just means playing with water balloons. It was a great change of pace since we did nothing the weeks before. Like always, we got El Olivar after with the movie Happy Feet playing in the background. Random but funny.
Tuesday
Today we were waiting for the announcements for transfer news until we realized that we actually missed the whole meeting completely. We had to ask the ZL's to send us a picture and it turns out that Elder Hone is getting booted out and Elder Huanca (pronounced like Willy Wanka) from Bolivia is coming in. I also got assigned as District Leader so that means an infinite amount of meetings but this time I can't rest during them haha. Rest of the day was chill, we had a funeral during that district counsel saying goodbye to Elder Nelson and Hermana Tapara and then we spent some of the day saying goodbye to people in our area for Elder Hone.
Wednesday
Transfer day. It's honestly so much fun to get to see all the Elders from my days in Deporte including my dad Elder Wilkens and Elder Robinson, also just to see how the other Elders are doing. When we got to the offices, me and Elder Estela also left to grab money together and catch up. Always a good time to catch up from that old district. Eventually, I said goodbye to Elder Hone and welcomed in Elder Huanca to Los Cedros. That day was pretty slow but at night we visited our baptismal date, Irma, who's doing super well and she's marking her Book of Mormon which makes me happy to see.
Thursday
Today was just a day of backups. We had such a good day planned out only to have them all fall through. Shoot. Well, we still got some good things done, though one of which was visiting Ricardo and Giovanna. They have been going to church for a year straight but can't get married because they have problems with Giovanna's birth certificate. Thankfully, Elder Huanca knows a little more about that than I do and so now we're in contact with a lawyer who can help. Also, on our way back home, we took the wrong bus and accidentally went out of our zone. Whoops.
Saturday
GENERAL CONFERENCE RAWWWW. We bought lots of junk food before going to the church to watch conference. The chapel was completely empty besides the other missionaries who were there. Holland's talk hit me in the feel goods and quickly became my favorite for that session. But I honestly don't have much to say about the day, just words of God with contacts with good and quick lessons between.
Sunday
It's honestly hard to know how many of our friends watched conference because only a few came to church but the chapel was full that first session. Tania W. Runia's was my favorite that day, which talked about repentance and how our worth never changes. Super good. And of course, it's always good hearing from the Prophet. Kinda funny, for the second session of conference nobody was in the chapel again. Once again the day was super chill after. We found this mom and daughter after the sessions ended and both of them are trying to find God in their lives, awesome. We then had a quick visit with Barbara and Luis who are always fun to visit.
Spiritual Conference: Aside from conference, I've been looking at all the scriptures in the Topical Guide about God's love for us and holy cow those studies have been so fulfilling! It always makes me sad that people say they can't believe in a God who allows bad things to happen but I know He is looking out for us! He claims us as His literal children and like any father, He wants to care for and protect us. Even through the difficult times, His love is there, it's just up to our part to look for and feel it, but I testify that it's there!
Hope you guys enjoyed conference as much as I did. Say your prayers, read your scriptures, and follow the Prophet! Until next time. Peace out.
