Chuggin Along

Monday

Good Pday, I'm happy that we're moving away from soccer and over to spikeball because it's finally something different. Other than that, it was just the normal thing. We went with the other Elders to El Olivar and spilled some lore before our mission. Always a vibe. After Pday ended, we just had a little Family Home Evening with some members and got to play Uno. It was awesome.

Tuesday

We spent a good amount of the day searching for this reference that we got from Bishop in an area that's very undeveloped in our phone. We explored most of it and organized the map on our way. We couldn't find the reference but had some other really good contacts we're looking forward to. Also, kinda crazy, but I saw rain for the first time here in like 4 months! That night we met with the Borja family, which is always super fun. The kids now are saying that they want to be missionaries when they grow up. LET'S GO!

Wednesday

We've been getting lots of references from a dead part of our area, so lately we've been building it up to make the most of our time there. One person we met with is Juven, who lives at the very top of a long climb of stairs. It's honestly so sad because he can't get anywhere due to a medical issue with his legs. He's awesome to visit, though. Then all that we had after was a virtual meeting with the mission before we went to one last contact that we actually put a date for! That night we celebrated at this place that sells the closest thing to real American hamburgers. God is good. We also invited the other Elders with us and played some games of Jenga that were set on the tabletops. It was a good time.

Thursday

Today was Elder Hone's second capacitation, so we headed for the offices, and it went so well! I definitely enjoyed it a lot better this time than my first because I could understand what was happening. But by far the best part about it is going to the temple! It was honestly such an awesome experience to go there again and feel the peace that the temples bring. I came out of that day learning a lot and going to the temple, so it was really awesome! Just a little scary that I almost lost my temple clothes two different times haha.

Friday

Woke up at 5:30 a.m. to ship Elder Hone to the offices again so he could get his carnet, so I spent the morning with a native missionary. We were legit too exhausted to get to know each other. Eventually, Elder Hone came back, and we randomly had this inactive bro tell us to meet him at 6 so he could come with us for lessons. Bueno. It was super random but went really well! Eventually, he had to leave, so that's when we grabbed Andy and met with the Borja family to try and have Mau get work off to go to church. It's a struggle, but we'll keep being diligent with it.

Saturday

Literally invited everyone to church like we normally do. We met with this whole family consisting of tons of grandkids to try again to invite them to church. The kids love me because I now always carry candy around with me and little pictures of Jesus. That night I had to restock on candy to give to kids that go to church. I invited the lady in the market to church, but she told us she wouldn't go and referred us to the neighboring store where we met an inactive member and her wife. It was pretty lit! Buying that candy was inspired.

Sunday

Today went really well. We got a good group of people to the church and then spent the day with different members giving us referrals and helping us visit dates. One lady that we found named Armalia has known the church for 30+ years but has never gotten baptized, so we gave her a powerful lesson on baptism and put on a date! We also visited with other people planning on getting baptized in a few weeks, and they basically just taught us Peruvian slang the entire time. It was pretty funny. #YoQuieroUnaFlaca

Spiritual Thought: Obviously, it's gotta be the temple. We are so blessed to live next to so many temples near us, and that's something I want to take advantage of when I get back home. 10/10 will always make your day better.

Thanks for tuning in. Hope y'all have a good week!
