Bread With Fruitsnacks

BIRTHDAY SHOUTOUT TO OWEN MITCHELL RAWWWWWW
Hope you have a good birthday, bro.

Another week in Peru, let's get into it...

Monday
We changed up what we were doing for P-day—instead of playing soccer, we went to a house in the hermana's area and ate tacos. The family was so sweet. The tacos were made by this old lady who cried during the opening prayer and continued to tell us stories (and jokes) as we ate. As usual, we just talked to fam and took naps after. When we got back to proselyting, we had a family home evening with this semi-inactive family about Lehi's dream, and it went super well! We hope to see them in church more.

Tuesday
We've been stuck with cold showers all week, and this morning we learned that that's going to change for another week. Womp womp. We had district council, which was boring, but after, we all went to KFC as a district, and that was super fun. When we got to work, we had a lesson in this apartment that we don't have access to, so we hope we can get in there more and find new people. We also had a lesson with this lady named Teresa, and she's super cool! We talked about the BOM and gifted her one, but unfortunately, she's leaving for the week, so we won't be able to have lessons for a while. We just hope she can read it while she's traveling. We headed up to the top of our area and visited this family of members for a little too long before heading back down to the bottom. We took a taxi to make it to the bottom, and I was sitting next to this old lady who saw the picture book I have to help teach lessons. She asked if she could flip through it, so I let her. I think she just wanted the book, but hopefully, she'll also want some lessons too because we gave her our information.

Wednesday
In the morning, we helped this family of members move because they're headed to Brazil. All moving consisted of was taking their things and dropping them off at their parents' house. We rode in the back of the moving truck to the parent's house, and even though it wasn't far, it was so sketchy. It was sad saying bye to those members because they were so helpful with referrals and helping us with lessons. They took us out to lunch, where I saw that Trump won the election. Honestly, kind of forgot that was a thing. Doesn't really matter, though, I'm just trying to get people to vote for Jesus. It was a pretty slow day of work up until we finished the night by putting this couple on date named Felix and Lizeth! They're really cool, so I hope things work out with them, and we're hoping to put their son on date as well.

Thursday
Temple trip! Awesome day. We woke up early to head to the offices and do a little training exercise that took forever, but they were good. But the best part of the day is that we traveled to the Los Olivos Temple, and it was so cool! We did an endowment session, which I thought I'd have to seriously lock in for because it would be in Spanish, but it ended up going really, really well. The celestial room is always so cool, and it felt nice to have that feeling of peace, especially as there's been a lot of stress lately. The trip pretty much took all day, but it was so worth it. When we got back, we just had one lesson with this member referral, and it went pretty well, so I call it a successful day.

Friday
We started the day in our secret area and ran into this husband of this lady we taught before. At first, he seemed receptive, but it quickly turned into a bash. I tried to get us out of there because bashes make no progress, waste time, and make no one feel good. I had to explain that to Elder Baldeon because he went off for a while, but all is good. Later that day, we visited some inactive members named Ricardo and his old mom named Elsa, and they are awesome! They also own, no joke, the fattest dog I've seen in my life named Beva. We talked to them about the sacrament and asked if we'd be able to see them in church, and it went really well. He then offered us this type of bread that is very common in Peru around Christmas time, apparently. He gave me this giant wedge, which each one has these weird chewy fruit snack-type things in it, and it was the grossest bread I've had in my life. He was so cool, though, so I said my prayers and choked down the wedge. Just as I was about to finish, he handed me another one! I thought I was going to throw up, especially since I was already full, but by the grace of my prayers, I made it out of there alive. This Christmas might be tough if there's going to be more of that waiting for me.

Saturday
It was a pretty sad day today, mostly because it started off with Monica sending us a big long message about how she's not going to get baptized in the church. That was rough to hear because we've been visiting her for so long. Well, we moved on, and I don't know why, but this day I was living like the Secret Life of Walter Mitty. Sometimes, no matter how hard I try to focus in our lessons, my mind wanders off to another world. Like I literally try and repeat in my head word for word what the other people are saying to try and stay present, but as soon as they say a word I don't understand, I suddenly imagine what it'd be like if I were a missionary with the superpowers of Spiderman. Weird stuff. Not sure if it's because I still don't understand a lot of the language, if I'm just always kind of tired, or what, but another thing I gotta pray for.

Sunday
Sunday ended up going well. We had a lot of our recent converts and that inactive family come to church, so I call that a win! Our recent convert John and his 5-year-old daughter Lucy sat next to us. Personally, in the church, I relate more to Lucy, so I was playing with her toys for a little bit. Work was pretty good too. We had the son of our pensionista help us named David. He's pretty cool. We went to visit this inactive family and ended up talking to the boyfriend, who's not a member, instead. The lesson actually went really well. The rest of the night was just trying to find people, visiting members, and recent converts.

Spiritual Thought: If you want to guarantee a good day, go to the temple. Make time for yourself to attend because the peace you feel inside is honestly unlike any other, and that was something I was reminded of this week.

Thanks for tuning in, remember to say your prayers, and I hope all of y'all have a good week! Peace out.
