Que tal amigos y familia! It's been a pretty basic week, so we're just gonna get right into things. Monday We had to wake up early and head to the airport so I could finally get my bag that's been lost for a month. We thought it'd be a long wait, but we basically just walked right in and grabbed it. Elder and Hermana Black were the senior missionaries that were helping us, and after I got my bag, they bought us lunch, and I got to eat a real American hamburger. It was a really good morning. When we got back, we went to the Peruvian version of Walmart to grab groceries for the week but also stuff to celebrate Elder Wilken's one-year mark that was coming up. After that, it was a very chill P-day talking to a lot of family and taking a lot of naps. Wednesday We had to wake up early because I had a training meeting that I needed to go to with President and the APs. This time I kind of knew what to expect—the message will be good, but it's going to be really long, an...

50 People

Que pasa, amigos y familia! This week has been really good, and for this P-day, we are headed to the airport to pick up my bag that was supposed to be here 4 weeks ago. Hopefully, that can finally be taken care of. Anyway, a lot of good things have happened this week, so I'll just get into it! Tuesday We started off with district council, which was boring. Those meetings will take me a long time to learn to like. We got back, had lunch, and then some people came to fix the electrical problems we've been having, so we're back to showering with hot water—blessings! Also this week, Elder Wilkens said we're going to try to find 50 people, which is about double the regular goal here. I was down for it, so between lessons, we'd literally talk to everyone we ran into to see if they wanted to hear a two-minute message about Jesus before getting their phone number and address to schedule more lessons. Our goal for that day was 10 people, and we actually got it a lot faster t...

Rubiks Cubes And AP's

This week hasn't really been anything out of the ordinary, just the usual contacting, teaching, talking, walking up hills, eating rice, and still missing a suitcase, so we'll just get right into it... Monday We tried playing soccer for P-day, which Elder Wilkens used to always look forward to apparently, but I felt bad because not a lot of the kids we invited showed up, and so it was pretty bland. I am also embarrassingly bad at playing soccer, so I just called family during that time, which probably didn't help. But after that, we and our district went to lunch because it was one of the Hermana's birthdays. We went to this restaurant, and I got anticuchos, which is just cow heart. It's actually one of the best things I've had here because it's basically steak, and anything close to American food I'll take. We also got cake for the birthday, so it was a win! Tuesday It was a pretty slow day, mostly just finding and contacting people with not a lot of les...

Takis And Coke

Que pasa, familia y amigos! That's all my Spanish is limited to, haha. The first full week in the field feels crazy. In my mind, it's still the first day, but time is only going to move forward. I'm also still waiting for my second bag! Thankfully, I have all the clothes I need, but there's still stuff I need from the other one. Anyway, let's get on with the week... Monday Not much happened for P-day besides the stake president inviting all of us to meet with him for a couple of hours and have lunch. Not gonna lie, it was kind of a bummer that we had to go to that for my first P-day. There was a pretty big group of missionaries there, and I was definitely the newest. All we did was play some little games that made no sense. My Spanish isn't great, so I had no clue what was going on. At one point, I had a blindfold on and was running towards a missionary clanking spoons together while everyone else was yelling random stuff. I honestly had no idea why we were ther...
